Headline : JEFI inks three MoUs on aquaculture projects
Bukit Mertajam – JEFI Aquatech Resources Sdn Bhd yesterday inked three memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with local and foreign experts on aquaculture research and development projects to develop and improve aquaculture production through biotechnology.
With the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) Biotech Centre at the Penang Science Park, here, playing host, JEFI signed the MoUs with experts from China, Universitu Sains Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (Unimap).
“Three MoUs signify the efforts by JEFI, experts from China and two varsities in bringing technological advancements to local aquaculture industry and to develop Malaysia as one of the main sea product exporters in the world,” said JEFI group chief executive officer B.J.Tan yesterday.
The MoU with China will see JEFI collaborating with five professors and aquaculture experts from China Oceanic Administration, Xiamen University and Fujian Province Fisheries Research Institute on technology collaboration of hatchery and farming system.
JEFI and Unimap will cooperate in developing recycling aquaculture and embedded systems for aquaculture.
With USM, it will develop novel delivery system of feed in aquaculture and conversion of aquaculture waste into value-added products.
